I am not sure where the Dembare fans come into the picture, in view of the Sunday game. I think we have to call a spade a spade if we are to win the battle of crowd trouble matches at BF. The problem is not the whole of the Bosso fans, but a certain section of unruly fans from the Soweto stand, very young boys for that matter.

It will be wrong to paint the whole Bosso community or the whole Zimbabwean soccer fans with the same brush because of those few misguided young boys. I think the police on the day tried to be patient and dealt with the situation in the best possible way – given the violent nature of the young boys from Soweto, who kept advancing at the police, with players from both set of teams by the centre circle- which on its own was very dangerous for the players and the crowd. When pushed out of the stadium, they started throwing stones at every car as they kept advancing back into the stadium. It was never going to be easy for the police with that lot.
Match officials do mess up the games but it does not call for such violent protest as we saw on Sunday. The current Bosso leadership has lots of work to talk to the fans. They were no where to be seen at the Sunday chaos, except for committee member – Mabhena who tried to calm down that Soweto section. In the history of Bosso, this is not the first time we have had disturbances from Soweto. With sound leadership, they would go to the stand and the crowd would listen, to an extent of taking instant justice to who ever throws an object to the field.
We need leaders who will bring themselves to the people such that when they talk to them, the soweto will listen. It is an open secret that Soweto/Bosso fans will listen to their leaders than the police. Do they know their leaders, do they have faith in their leaders? I dont think so. For how do you explain the stoning of the chairman`s car and that of the Treasurer’s car. Aside the poor officiating and the politics of Zimbabwean football, Bosso needs to put its house in order, in terms of the surppoters and administration-wise and even the technical bench, because that’s one game that they should have wrapped up in the first half.

Many who would have come for the first time at BF, would think twice about returning there. The team, with the help of video evidence and the police as well as through some of the arrested, need to identify the few culprits and ban them from Bosso games. Bosso now should be seen by zimbabwe football to be doing something to end this trend.
On a positive note, it was the biggest crowd at BF this season as 12 500 fans paid to watch the match. The Banc ABC Cup semi final clash had seen 8 500 fans pay, while the Zaoga clash against Caps Utd saw only 5 500. One wonders if the $ 2 cheapest ticket contributed to those few violent young boys coming to watch the match. Thumbs up to Empakweni crowd who were well behaved as well as the VIP, which shows that its not the whole of the Bosso community who are violent as it is said now.
Psl Kanda Extraordinary
I feel it was the battles outside BF that caused all the confusion, especially when it looked like order had been restored and Bosso were about to take their corner, and there was all of a sudden tear gas smoke from outside the stadium that forced the Empakweni end fans and those housed at the mpilo end onto the pitch.
